Huge ads and big banners of stars have been put up.. I drove past every poster reading about the director, the technicians and others.. I was very fascinated..it was friday..the movie was releasing today..and I was quite excited by the big stars in the movie and the music...but.. I knew I won’t get tickets as it would be all booked by the 'fan-clubs' and I was definitely not a part of any club.."fan-club"..! I was very very jobless and wanted to watch this movie for some reason.. I went to a few theatres and tried to get tickets..but No!.. nothing was working out in my favour… I called my friends who were part of such fan clubs but they had tickets just for themselves and who will sacrifice their ‘show’ for me..? I didn’t know if the movie was worth all my hard work .. I didn’t know if I should be so desperate to watch..it wasn’t my favourite star’s movie or anything that should normally excite me but still.. “I WANTED TO WATCH IT”
Finally..just before the evening show, I got tickets in some small theatre. That was the time I had to forget about Digital sound, Dolby effects and all other hi-class technical luxuries of watching a movie..!! I forgot even about cushioned seats because I was seated on a Bench.. I laughed at my silly whim.. “I have to watch it” “I have to watch it” “I have to watch it” this voice of mine kept echoing inside my mind.
Suddenly, papers flew in the air.. and some 50 odd people started whistling seeing just the name of the movie…! I suddenly was reminded of my gender.. and remembered that I was one of the few women in this huge theatre full of men.. and men..who will go wild watching the movie… and as I was thinking..one more of those “paper-showers” and a whistle. “I have to watch it”, again… I heard me speaking.. What am I..? Some silly freak who wanted to watch some movie just because it was over hyped in the television and newspapers..!?
Yeah.. the movie started.. the opening song was great. Nice choreo, nice song, nice clothes…and then the story started.. It was going good but I was feeling odd... though it was just a hard wooden thing I was sitting on and the noise around made the sound quality even worse.. I could predict the next scene. Though I could not hear the dialogues clearly, I knew what the next scene was…
I had a sense of ‘déjà vu’…
And then my very sharp brain, after watching the movie for a full half-hour, told me that I have seen this movie in Hindi 5 times…and this was just a remake? I felt myself heating up.. “I have to watch it” became “I have to get out of here”. I could not believe I took all the pains and the pains to watch something that was already watched… making the made..!!
